UK domestic houses are responsible for 40% of UK climate emissions and with more than 27 million homes needing retrofit in order to reach net zero, the UK housing market poses a significant challenge for the decarbonisation of the UK’s building stock. Private rented single-family homes are a large and challenging contributor to this, as most of these homes are owned by individuals or small businesses who do not have the ability to provide scaled interventions to improve environmental or social performance.

G2M is a specialist residential rental operator which acquires, regenerates and manages affordable family rental homes across the UK at scale. The JV currently manages nearly 1,700 homes and utilises economies of scale and data driven insights to improve both energy efficiency, social value and improved governance across the portfolio:

Energy Efficiency – focus on widescale retrofit of existing housing stock to improving the energy performance of the assets, reduce carbon emissions, improve EPC ratings and reduce energy bills for residents.

Social Value – through a combination of resident education and collaboration, the JV is promoting sustainable tenancies that ensure the well being of residents by assisting with resident income maximisation, home energy usage management and the care and maintenance of a homes.

Governance – enhanced governance of corporate entity through newly appointed COO and Head of Sustainability.
